
After six weeks, 32 shows and nearly 40,000 votes cast, C&I readers have spoken: The best television western of all time is Gunsmoke.
The Cartwrights of Bonanza put up a good fight, but they couldn’t quite get the best of James Arness as Marshal Matt Dillon, whose long-running series emerged victorious with 56 percent of the vote. Twenty years on the air apparently generates a lot of viewer loyalty and affection.
