Josh Turner’s recording career began in 2003 when he signed with MCA Nashville Records and released his first studio album, Long Black Train. Now one of the industry’s most successful artists, he’s releasing his highly anticipated sixth studio album, Deep South.
Deep South features 11 tracks that are a representation of Turner’s growth as an artist and as a person. “I’m really proud of this album,” says Turner in a press release. “It was really important for me to expand creatively and explore in new ways for this record. The way I pick songs is different now. There are so many things in my life and career that have matured me as an artist. I’ve had another child since my last project!”

Turner knows whereof he sings: A native of Hannah, South Carolina, and longtime resident of the Nashville area, he says Deep South “represents hardworking people who find joy in the simple things in life: heritage, church, community, high school sports, being outdoors. It is a culture.”
His 2012 hit record, Punching Bag — which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and features hit songs “Time Is Love” and “Find Me a Baby” — is a tough act to follow. But Turner’s most recent singles from Deep South, “Lay Low” and “Hometown Girl,” have been climbing the country music charts. We’re loving the new music and are excited for more.
