Welcome to American Craft Beer Week - C&I Magazine

Raise your breakfast beers (yes, they exist), folks, because it’s a wonderful time to be alive. It’s American Craft Beer Week. “So what is this seven-day celebration of beer?” you ask. It’s not a binge or a kegger. (We certainly don’t endorse overdrinking.) Rather, American Craft Beer Week is a holiday of sorts established by the Brewers Association in 2005 in support of small and independent U.S. craft brewers. The merriment provides an opportunity for craft brewers to share their diversity, creativity, and passion with parties, limited-edition releases, tours, tap takeovers, meet-and-greets, and more across all 50 states. For a full list of events, visit the American Craft Beer Week online calendar.

According to the Brewers Association, there are more than 5,300 breweries in the United States. Almost all (99 percent) are small and independent craft brewers. The organization also reports growth is a major factor: “In 2016, small and independent craft brewers grew by six percent, reflecting the dynamism and a bright spot for the domestic beer market.”

At C&I, American Craft Beer Week means sharing recipes, one of which is a cocktail. Yes, you can put beer in a cocktail. The one we’ll share is tart and refreshing — everything needed for a spring or summer day. We’ll share our picks for our current favorite craft beers across the West. We’ll talk to a brewery founder, we’ll hit the road, and much more.
