The world lost a prodigious talent when Glen Campbell passed away on August 8 after a long and tough battle with Alzheimer’s disease. In remembrance, we wanted to share the talent of his daughter Ashley, the youngest of his eight children and a member of his band when Campbell went on the road with his Goodbye Tour after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2011.
Ashley Campbell began her professional career playing banjo on the Goodbye Tour in 2011 and 2012. She also appeared on the Rascal Flatts single “Banjo.”
Going solo, Campbell’s debut single, “Remembering,” which she wrote as a tribute to her dad during his struggle with Alzheimer’s, reached No. 55 on US Country airplay and was featured in the 2014 documentary Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me. The film, which followed Campbell on his Goodbye Tour, was nominated for an Oscar; the soundtrack won a Grammy.
